StoreReady Protection

StoreReady is an optional extension to your Self Storage Licence Agreement. It is not insurance. It allows Extra Space to accept liability for certain types of physical loss or damage, subject to the StoreReady Terms, limits and exclusions.

StoreReady at a glance

Monthly fee $3.40 per $1,000 of declared value, plus GST
Maximum declared value $50,000 per customer
Customer contribution The first $100 of each claim
How to apply Accept the StoreReady Terms, complete the application form and declare the full replacement value of all goods stored

For example, declaring goods worth $10,000 costs $34 per month plus GST ($37.40 including GST). A $20,000 declaration costs $68 per month plus GST.

How StoreReady works

  1. Read the Self Storage Licence Agreement and StoreReady Terms.
  2. Declare the full replacement value of everything you store in your unit.
  3. Complete the StoreReady Application Form and accept the StoreReady Terms.
  4. Wait for Extra Space to confirm that your protection has commenced.

StoreReady does not apply automatically when you book a unit. To keep it in place, you must pay the applicable fees and comply with your Self Storage Licence Agreement and the StoreReady Terms.

What events are protected?

Subject to the StoreReady Terms, protection applies to physical loss or damage caused by specified events, including fire, lightning, storm, leaking pipes and theft involving forcible and violent entry.

Flood and theft without evidence of forcible and violent entry are not protected. Other exclusions and conditions also apply, so please read the full StoreReady Terms before applying.

Declare the full value of your goods

Your declaration must cover the replacement value of all goods stored, not just the items you consider most valuable. The maximum available is the lesser of your accepted declared value and $50,000 per customer, subject to the StoreReady Terms.

If you declare less than the actual replacement value of everything stored, an amount payable for a protected loss may be reduced proportionally. Contact us to update your declaration if the contents or value of your unit changes.

Additional limits apply to some goods. For example, jewellery and watches are limited to $1,000 per item and $5,000 in total for that category. The same limits apply to categories including fine art and wine. See the StoreReady Terms for the complete list.

Vehicle storage

Extra Space offers vehicle storage, but motor vehicles, boats and caravans are not protected by StoreReady. If you need protection for a vehicle, please arrange suitable cover separately.

If your goods are lost or damaged

Tell our team as soon as you discover the loss or damage. Keep the affected goods and any records that help establish their ownership and value. You may be asked for photographs, receipts, repair or replacement quotes, and a police report if there has been a break-in or theft. Please do not dispose of damaged goods until advised that you may do so.

StoreReady is your choice

StoreReady is optional. You may choose StoreReady, arrange your own insurance or other protection, or store your goods under the standard terms of your Self Storage Licence Agreement. If you do not choose StoreReady, Extra Space’s liability remains limited under that agreement.

This page is a summary only. The Self Storage Licence Agreement and StoreReady Terms govern your arrangement, including all conditions, limits and exclusions. Extra Space does not value your goods or provide personal advice about whether StoreReady is suitable for you.
